[Newbie] I've downloaded and run the Mechwars installation file, but when I run the mechwars.exe it says "cannot find ###" and crashes out... why's that?

[Mechwarrior] Have you put in the correct folder location for Total Annihilation so it installs to the TA folder?

[Newbie] Oh... do I need a copy of Total Annihilation to run it then?

Generally speaking using this patch is plain sailing, but some people don't always get things right, or get confused over something - if something seems to be wrong read the following Q and A, if your question isn't answered below, send me an E-mail

  How do I install this unit?

  Simply unzip the contents of the zip file this comes in in your Total Annihilation folder (make sure "recurse folders" is turned on), alternativly copy/paste "ArmVulture.ufo" into the Total Annihilation directory by hand if you've already unzipped it all.

  How do I get the unit in game?

  Firstly make sure you're using the latest version of Total Annihilation (download it from www.cavedog.com) once you're sure you're using it, and you've installed it as described above. Play a game of Total Annihilation, the Vulture (and the variant) is in one of the Arm Advanced K-Bot Lab build menus.

  Can I take this unit online and kick everyone's ass??

  In theory yes, but your opponent will also need to have a copy of the Vulture unit patch installed on his computer (so it's not one sided) - this is in theory, I havn't tested this unit online due to "household problems" (bah)

  Will this unit work on Total Annihilation: Core Contingency?

  I have no idea, again, in theory this should work - but I don't have TA:CC to test it on, if you've tried this unit and it works on TA:CC E-mail me with the results

  Did you nick a unit from TA:Mechwars?

A
  NO I do have connections with TA:Mechwars, but this unit was made indepedantly from them, completely from scratch (Actually I made this unit with the intention of using it as a "resumé" to apply as their new scripter)

  Can I use bits of your scripts/models etc in my own scripting please?

  Sorry, I'd rather if you didn't take pieces of my code directly and recompile them under your own name. However I don't mind you using the scripts or components as a reference, if you want to know more about why a script works the way it does just send me an an E-mail and I'll be happy to explain. Oh, BTW I don't mind people uploading the unit to their own website for download as long as none of the core components, or records of the original author arn't changed or removed

  How do I uninstall the Vulture from my computer?

  Firstly go into your TA directory ("C:/cavedog/totala/" by default) - find the file called "AVulture.ufo" and delete it, next go into the "Docs" sub-directory, delete the file called "Vulture.html" and the folder called "HTML", finally in the main TA folder, there will probably be a file called "Read me - PLZ.txt" - delete that too if it is present. All traces of the Vulture and it's documentation should now be gone.
